Artistic residency in Ticino

Ticino, with its strategic position on the European map, represents a potential crossroads of Italian, German, and French artistic tastes. Numerous young, independent groups have been trying to establish themselves in the Swiss theater system for years, but their projects often lack the care and attention needed to fully develop. For this reason, Studio MIRA is organizing the first theater residency in Ticino, open to artists from all over Switzerland. Three artists will be selected from the country's three linguistic regions (plus one from Italy). For a month, they will be hosted at three historic independent theaters in the area, where they will develop four monologue projects, culminating in a public performance of the results at two Ticino theaters (Teatro delle Radici and Teatro Paravento) and one Italian theater (Teatro Comunale di Cernusco, Milan), thanks to the collaboration with Produzioni Y. During the residency, the artists will be supported by local tutors and accompanied, in the production, production and distribution of the results, by the Studio MIRA and Produzioni Y teams.

The project aims to connect independent theater groups rooted in the Ticino region with artists from beyond the Alps, with the goal of creating, in future editions, a true artistic corridor, as well as offering an important opportunity for advanced training for local artists. By bringing together the strengths of several independent Ticino institutions in a single project, we aim to build a significant creative presence on the national scene, connecting with other theatres in future editions.
